Trisha Selbach, Natural Dog Training’s Event Coordinator, recently decided to add another pet to the family, and found Hero, a German Shepherd puppy. Like she did with her now eight-year old dog Athos, Trisha will be raising her new puppy the ‘natural way’, using the Natural Dog Training method and techniques.

This time around, Trisha has started blogging about her experience in Raising Hero. “I have begun this blog after taking my own ‘Hero’s Journey’,” Trisha said. “Fifteen years ago, I raised a dog using the popular model and the effect was a disaster. It broke my heart to have created a dog that was aggressive to people. I began a quest to find the truth about dogs and that quest lead me to Natural Dog Training and Kevin Behan. For the last 15 years I have been studying under a person I consider to be a modern day Galileo. Athos was raised Kevin’s way, and the proof is in the pudding: he’s amazing. I hope you will enjoy hearing about raising a puppy in a totally new way.”

Natural Dog Training is about how dogs see the world and what this means in regards to training. The first part of this book presents a new theory for the social behavior of canines, featuring the drive to hunt, not the pack instincts, as seminal to canine behavior. The second part reinterprets how dogs actually learn. The third section presents exercises and handling techniques to put this theory into practice with a puppy.
